Overnight Structure Fire in Bendersville

Last night at 11:30, A Box Alarm was sounded for a mixed occupancy House Fire on Bendersville Wenksville Rd (Box 7-2) with a report of people trapped. 27 doubled pulled with Engine Tanker 27 & Rescue Engine 27 w/ staffing of 11. ET27 & RE27 arrived back to back, as Command 7 placed RE27 in the attack group, and ET27 in Water Supply. Crews worked the fire for several hours before bringing it under control. Another fire in the county with near 0* temperatures.

House Fire with 1 Trapped

Shortly before 7am, Engine Tanker 27 & Rescue Engine 27 was alerted for the House Fire with people trapped on South Mountain Rd in Quincy Twp,  Franklin County (Box 16-2). ET27 & RE27 was placed in the Water Supply Group with Chief 27 being the Water Supply Officer. The crews from both assisted with Fire Attack and Overhaul. FL Engine 16-2 was able to make the grab shortly after arriving on scene. The victim was in critical condition and air lifted to an area burn unit. 27 units remained on scene for a fire hours assisting the PSP Fire Investigator. Photos courtesy of wagon driver B. Transfer to Mont Alto

 

Overnight a multi alarm blaze broke out at the American Legion in Waynesboro. With the area fire apparatus committed on the fire, Rescue Engine 27 transferred to Mont Alto Station 5

Landing Zone on Big Flat

This afternoon Rescue Engine 27 w/5 established a landing zone for Life Lion Helicopter on Big Flat. A patient from a vehicle accident in Cumberland County was being flown to a nearby Trauma Center.

Auto Accident on Chambersburg are

This afternoon Rescue Engine 27 w/5 and Fayetteville EMS resounded to the 5500 blk of Chambersburg Rd (Box 27-7) for an auto accident. RE27 arrived and provided EMS care to the patients.

Rescue Engine 27 transfers to Mont Alto

At 03:30 hrs this morning, Buchanan Valley FD was alerted to Mont Alto FD to cover their 1st Due while their department assisted in Waynesboro FD on a Working Fire Assignment. Rescue Engine 27 with a crew of 7 handled the transfer for a few hours, before being released.

Brush Fire near a Structure

Engine Tanker 27 and Rescue Engine 27 responded on a Box Assignment in the 4500 blk of Chambersburg Rd, Box 4-2 (Cashtown). ET 27 arrived and stretched a line assisting Engine 4-1 with knocking down a wind driven brush fire before it reached the nearby structure. Units picked up and returned 20 minutes later.

Winch Awareness Training

Twenty BVFD firefighters spent the day training with ESI on Winch operations. The class was taught by Pat Grub from ESI and consisted of 4 classroom hours followed by several practical techniques. With the arrival of Rescue Engine 27, a portable winch was purchased for the apparatus. This class trained our firefighters  safe, efficient & effective rescue operations of using this important piece of equipment. Fairfield Fire & EMS also sent RE2 with 6 firefighters for the class.
