Around 0800 this morning, Company 27 was alerted for the auto accident with one trapped in the 6800 blk of Chambersburg Rd (27-7 Box). Engine-Tanker, Brush and Chief 27 responded with 7. 27 units arrived to find EMS on the scene with one auto on its roof and one patient trapped. Engine-Tanker 27 deployed its Holmatro Cutters, Spreaders and Ram to extricate the patient. ET 27 also placed a hose line in service due to a fuel leak from the vehicle. Squad 7 (Fayetteville) assisted with the extrication. After removing 2 doors, the “B” post, the passenger seat / center console and pushing the roof off the patient, the extrication was complete. Due to the weather conditions, EMS transported the patient via ground. This is another great example of local fire departments working together with limited daytime manpower. Engine 4-1 (Cashtown) had been dispatched for a landing zone and later responded to the scene because no air medical being available to fly. Franklin Rescue-Squad 41 (Franklins) had filled the box and was returned prior to arrival.
