“Minimum Staffing Truck Company Ops”

This past weekend, BVFD hosted  “Minimum Staffing Truck Company Ops” class taught by Traditions Training. 20 volunteer firefighters took time out of their busy weekend to attend this intense training.  This class concentrated on Minimum Staffing situations with crews having to complete several fireground tasks.  With limited volunteers available at times, BVFD decided that this class would greatly benefit our Department and Community.   Students completed 3 hours of classroom instruction on Saturday, followed by hands-on training evolutions Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.  A house was used for the practical training for real life-like experiences.  This is the third Traditions Training class hosted by BVFD, and several more have been planned for the future . Volunteers from Gettysburg FD, Biglerville FD and Arendtsville Fire Departments also participated in the class.  BVFD would like to thank the following for making this class happen:  New Franklin Fire Company (Truck 17 on Sunday), Franklin County Air Unit 10  (Air Wagon on Sunday), The FireStore (Supplying Demo Saws), Dave Burkholder (Vacant House), Nellie Fox Bowling Alley (Many restroom visits), Gettysburg Times (photos), the stand-by BVFD crew that remained in the Valley (handled 3 responses) and of course the Valley ladies  for making meals throughout the weekend.  BVFD members have put in over 250 hours of training already for 2015.  Below are a few pictures of the weekend.
