Yesterday was our annual Summer Outdoor Raffle. This is one of the largest Fund Raisers each year for our Organization. This post may get long and we are sorry. BVFD wants to take time to say THANK YOU. To pull off an event of this size takes a team. From people selling tickets (10,000 tickets), setting up and tearing down the grounds, ordering/preparing/cooking/serving a great meal, standing for hours selling small games all while staying prepared to answer Emergency Responses. BVFD would again like to thank Irvin Farms for the use of the large field for parking (we filled it) and to both Upper Frankford Fire Company & Heidlersburg Fire Company for covering "The Valley" for the day.

As stated above, we did sell out. With over 3000 people attending it was a great crowd. We do understand that the food line did look long, but it kept moving. Nothing beats a burger right off the grill! Yes, the rumor is true that we ran out of hotdogs after 3PM. We believe there was a hotdog eating contest on the grounds somewhere to eat all 200 pounds of dogs. Again, after the wait everyone was happy with the buffet that covered two tents in length.

Please understand that no-one or Organization is perfect, we did take notes and each year make improvements. Our goal at the Buchanan Valley Volunteer Fire Department has always been and will remain to provide the best Events possible. We have posted the unclaimed small games on our facebook page and the 50/50 & safe winner (both claimed).
